Gift Designations are a way of allowing donors to specify how they would like their money allocated or used by the organization.  Please follow these instructions to setup "Items" or "Gift Designations" for each organization.

We recommend that you first setup a "General" donation and that all donations that are not specifically designated to something else, are assigned to the "General" designation.

To setup the designations, click on "Settings" and then "Gift Designations".

Click "Add Gift Designation" to setup a new item.

Note: you can also check if the Gift Designation is "Tax Deductible" or set as the "Default" gift designation

The name you use for your designations should be thought through completely.  Make sure that your items correspond with your accounting system's general ledge (in some way).  Furthermore, if you are multi-site, make sure that your donors know which site they have the option to give to.  For example, if you have a building fund for 1 campus and a capital campaign for another, then make sure that your designations specify which campus.  This is pretty important, so here is an example...

One other thing to note...  Each designation will have a separate "Campaign" page.  This page is really for future use, but for now, if you use our online giving option, this link will simply pre-populate the designation for the donor.  We have BIG things brewing for Campaigns, so be on the lookout for that.
